Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless
The Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless is the only day time shelter in Tulsa for people who are homeless or are in need. The Day Center also provides night time shelter for over 100 people every night. We are committed to providing and serving the meal on the first Friday of each month for 2019. These are the months/groups: January-VIM Team, February-DeeAnn Gibbons and her Hale HS Class, March-Challengers SS Class, April-Administrative Council, May-Youth and Alumni, June-Bell Choir, July-SALT SS Class, August-Pathfinders SS Class, September UMM, October -Chancel Choir, November-Frye Family & Friends, December-Disciple SS Class
Each summer the Oklahoma United Methodist Church sponsors Project Transformation, a literacy program for at-risk elementary-age students. Memorial Drive provides reading mentors as well as refreshments for the children. For more information on Project Transformation go to Project Transformation Oklahoma
We are active in ministry at Restore Hope providing people with help for food, clothing, school supplies, utilities, counseling, Christmas gifts, guidance and more. More information is available at Restore Hope
Partners In Education
Partners in Education enable Tulsa Public School children to receive additional support to meet all of their needs. The greatest impact comes from the connection between the students and a caring community. We want to see our children as an investment in the city's future, ensuring that student leave school with the skills, attitudes, and values necessary to be successful in life. Memorial Drive United Methodist Church is officially a Partner in Education with Jones Elementary School. If you would like to check out more details please visit Jones Elementary School
Wesley Foundation at Tulsa University
Twice a year the women of the church prepare a meal for approximately 100 students at Tulsa University's Wesley Foundation. The on-campus ministry serves a free lunch every Friday during the school year for any student who wishes to participate.
Each year we sponsor several events for the benefit of the community. Our annual Trunk or Treat and Easter Egg Hunt are popular. At the beginning of the school year we provide pants for the students at Jones Elementary and items for the teachers at the school.
