From The Pastor.....
I am thinking about the fall. Yes, the fall. It gives me hope in these hot summer days. Cooler weather is coming. As we are in the long hazy days of summer, it gives me joy to anticipate the hustle and bustle of the holiday season that is approaching.
I also have joy because Jason, Dallas, Liberty, and I will be in Galveston for a few days this next week. We have not had a family vacation in well over a year. We will be joined by a niece and her family. I expect it to be slow, renewing, and with lots of down time to simply enjoy one another. I also do not expect it to be perfect. However, in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I expect I will look back and want to re-visit that time.
All of this has me thinking about being present in the present. Not living in the future or the past. Jesus had a knack for being fully invested in where he was and who he was with. I am going to give that a go this week. I am going to set aside my phone and be with the people I love.
When I am present in the moment, it seems like I find my way into Jesus’ presence more often as well. HMMMM…I think I will stop right here.
